About Walsall

Walsall is a medium sizes town situated approximately 10 miles NW of Birmingham, England, having a population in 2005 of approximately 270,000.  Essentially an industrialised town specialising in the manufacture of Leather Goods, Walsall can once again claim to have the largest concentration of leather workers in Northern Europe. At the beginning of the 21st century, Walsall has something in the region of ninety fully operational manufacturers of leather goods, between them making an astonishing variety of quality items, a large percentage of which are exported to many different parts of the world.

Walsall Football Club

Walsall turned professional as Walsall Town Swifts in 1888, as an amalgamation of Walsall Town and Walsall Swifts, and shortened it’s name to Walsall 7 years later in 1895. The early years were spent largely outside of the football league - losing league status in dramatic fashion in 1901. The Club will play the 2005/06 season in Football League One, having been relegated from the First Division at the end of the 2003/2004 season.
